How lovely the old stations were/are, especially when they are looked after and flowers planted along the platforms. If this is your thing you should plan a trip to India, not least to experience the miniature steam trains that wend their way up to a few of the hill stations: Darjeeling, Simla, Ootacamund. Absolutely lovely experience, if somewhat dirty.Terry Whitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01329247984424752147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6053747577724470797.post-20173156316478046132011-02-18T01:05:45.582-08:002011-02-18T01:05:45.582-08:00This is marvellous. However I do empathise.

May I suggest if you have not done so that you send this rant to the complaints department of SE Rail, of whatever body oversees them, and whatever body oversees that body too, and lastly to the Minister of Transport, indicating clearly at the end of each letter who else you are copying it to so that they all know.

Regrettably this is often the only way for companies to be forced to take things seriously and deal with complaints. I cannot promise that it will elicit the corrective action you desire but it sounds like nothing short of doing this stands a hope in hell.

And if you get responses from all these and it is clear they intend doing nothing to rectify matters then I would, after a reasonable period to see if things get better, approach various organs of the media in a similar vein.

They know that people have busy lives and that doing this takes time and energy that people usually are wont to give, but then the English love to complain but rarely do so in a constructive way. It does not serve us well at all.

What a stupid country we have become when one sees thought processes take hold based on narrow self-interest that lead to policies, planning, spending and taxation based on a lack of common sense and an honest appraisal of the truth of how things actually are. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

TGWTerry Whitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01329247984424752147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6053747577724470797.post-78803047399762382942011-02-13T03:01:27.298-08:002011-02-13T03:01:27.298-08:00http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/road-and-ra...http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/road-and-rail-transport/8318382/Train-driver-refused-to-work-because-his-seat-was-damp.html

Enough said....Iain Thomashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05910724859360626007noreply@blogger.com
